Job Description
Sunrun, the largest residential solar and battery company in the United States, is hiring Installers for its Westbury, NY team. In this role, you'll work alongside a Foreperson and Lead Installer to complete residential solar installation projects, handling module assembly, racking installation, electrical integration, and final site preparation. The position offers hands-on involvement in every phase of the installation process and the opportunity to develop skills across multiple solar disciplines through Sunrun's Power+ training program.
Responsibilities
- Maintain personal, crew, and job site safety at all times; participate in training on new products, installation methodology, and safety protocols
- Verify inventory and ensure assigned crew truck is adequately stocked before departing for job sites
- Lay out, assemble, and install solar modules, racking systems, mechanical and structural mounts, and electrical equipment according to project specifications
- Apply weather sealing to roofing structures, building surfaces, and support mechanisms
- Clean up project sites, including customer areas and installation vehicles, to maintain orderly work environments
Requirements
- Previous solar, construction, or military experience preferred but not required
- Ability to transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Ability to work on rooftops of various angles and surfaces, requiring frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and balance
- Ability to climb ladders safely
- Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions including excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, and humidity
- Ability to work at heights and maintain balance on roofs, rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without causing damage
- Fine motor skills for hand functions including manipulation, grasping, and pinching
- Ability to work safely with fall protection harnesses, ladders, and other personal protective equipment
- Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces requiring kneeling and crouching
- Ability to distinguish colors including red, black, yellow, white, and green
- Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings
- Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protective measures
