Job Description

AES Corporation seeks a Solar Technician II for operations and maintenance at Armadillo Solar, a utility-scale photovoltaic facility near Corsicana, Texas. This role involves hands-on maintenance of solar PV equipment, inverters, trackers, and electrical systems at the site. The position requires daily commute to the facility and may include supervisory responsibilities as the team grows.

Responsibilities

  • Perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance and operations on solar PV equipment, including SMA inverters, Nextracker XTR trackers, and high/medium/low voltage switching systems
  • Execute routine and non-routine O&M activities on utility-scale solar energy plant equipment and associated substations
  • Prepare and implement switching orders and clearance procedures
  • Conduct inspections, data collection, and equipment diagnostics in the field
  • Ensure all work complies with environmental, safety, and operational standards
  • Perform work independently and as part of maintenance crews
  • Train and lead field personnel as the company expands operations
  • Complete technical and administrative duties related to power facility operations

Requirements

  • Three or more years of experience as a PV O&M solar technician, OR five or more years in a power plant with at least one year in PV solar O&M or construction
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals, including electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid-state theory application
  • Basic knowledge of operational characteristics of power facility equipment and associated control devices
  • Ability to work at heights, on ladders, and in enclosed equipment spaces
  • Comfortable working in high and low ambient temperatures and humidity
  • Ability to lift as required for job duties
  • Proficiency with personal computers and standard business software
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English
  • Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations
  • Willingness to work overtime and non-standard hours as required
  • Able to wear and work safely with personal protective equipment including hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, and ear protection
  • Ability to work around rotating equipment, energized systems, and hazardous materials
  • Daily commute capability to Corsicana, Texas site
