Job Description

AES CE, a rapidly growing renewable energy company headquartered in Salt Lake City, is seeking a Solar Technician II for on-site operations and maintenance work at the Morris Solarworks utility-scale solar project near Kirksville, Missouri. This role involves day-to-day maintenance, troubleshooting, and compliance oversight for solar PV sites and associated electrical infrastructure, with opportunity to mentor junior field personnel as the company expands.

Responsibilities

  • Perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance on solar PV sites and substations
  • Operate and maintain SunGrow 4400 and SunGrow 3600 inverters and Soltech single-axis tracker systems
  • Execute high, medium, and low voltage switching operations
  • Prepare and implement switching orders and clearance procedures
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards during all operations
  • Work independently and collaboratively with field teams
  • Support operations at additional solar facilities, including the Hardy Hills project in Indiana (up to 10% travel)

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a PV O&M solar technician, OR 5+ years in power plant operations with 1+ year in PV solar O&M or construction
  • 2-year technical degree or equivalent; Journeyman electrical qualification preferred
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical fundamentals
  • Familiarity with standard business software and basic IT equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Capable of standing, walking, kneeling, climbing, and wearing personal protective equipment for extended periods
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime and non-standard hours
  • Must be able to commute daily to site location (US Highway 63 and County Road 361 C, Kirksville, Missouri 63501); local residence or relocation to the Kirksville area required before start date
  • Ability to work safely around rotating equipment, energized systems, hazardous materials, and chemicals
