Job Description
Moss Construction, a nationally ranked solar and battery storage EPC firm, seeks a BESS Electrical Superintendent to oversee electrical coordination and craft supervision on utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Florida. This role involves on-site planning, scheduling, and supervision of electrical installation activities, with frequent travel required.
Responsibilities
- Plan and supervise electrical craft activities, including determining construction methods, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment needs, temporary power sources, work schedules, and labor budgets
- Coordinate electrical work with other crafts, company departments, and subcontractors on-site
- Maintain liaison with engineering, estimating, and planning teams to ensure work aligns with drawings, specifications, and project schedule
- Monitor craft compliance with project safety program requirements and implement corrective measures as needed
- Assist in resolving construction problems related to productivity, work interfaces, and scheduling
- Coordinate with Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support craft activities
- Delegate responsibility and verify proper completion of assigned tasks
- Document actual hours worked and maintain man hour and job cost reports
Requirements
- OSHA 30 certification
- Minimum 3 years' supervisory experience in a power plant or heavy industrial construction environment
- 4–5 years' previous experience as a General Foreman, or 3 years as a Superintendent in a single discipline on an industrial construction project
- Electrical field installation experience within a solar plant or heavy industrial environment
- Demonstrated ability to supervise 50 or more employees
- Demonstrated planning and scheduling experience
- Ability to read, interpret, and work with electrical design drawings (isometric and orthographic), design guides, and specifications
- Experience with contract documents and site coordination of subcontractors
- Background in man hour reports, job cost reports, and workforce planning
- Self-perform BESS construction experience (highly preferred)
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach regularly in indoor and outdoor environments
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds, with occasional assistance for heavier loads
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions, around moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, loud noise, and extreme temperatures
- Willingness to travel frequently and relocate as project needs require
