Solar Project Engineer/Senior Project Engineer - Project Management

Moss Construction, a nationally ranked solar EPC and construction management firm, seeks a Solar Project Engineer to support utility-scale photovoltaic project delivery in Florida and surrounding states. You will work alongside the Project Manager and site team to coordinate construction processes, manage submittals and material logistics, track schedules, and maintain project documentation from pre-construction through closeout. This role involves significant travel across multiple states and requires hands-on engagement with owners, contractors, and design professionals.

Responsibilities

• Assist with pre-construction planning: document control setup, quantity takeoffs, site investigation, value engineering, constructability reviews, permit initiation, and mock-up coordination
• Support project startup: review owner contracts, develop startup checklists and site utilization plans, coordinate mobilization, assist with subcontractor and vendor selection, and finalize project schedules
• Develop and maintain submittal logs, fabrication and delivery schedules, and material tracking documentation; confirm timely delivery and verify fabrication status
• Coordinate construction activities with the Superintendent: conduct pre-construction meetings with subcontractors, maintain activity and expediting logs, participate in schedule updates, and perform quality control inspections
• Support project administration: prepare meeting minutes and agendas, maintain jobsite files, process progress photos, administer RFI requests, track project status, and maintain Prolog records
• Process subcontractor and vendor pay requests, track owner payments, monitor back charges, and assist with labor cost reporting
• Manage change order process: create change requests, assess scope and schedule impacts, expedite pricing, prepare cost proposals, and coordinate owner notifications
• Participate in project closeout: prepare closeout logs, coordinate punch list activities, document owner training, compile as-built drawings and O&M manuals, and demobilize the site
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, company policies, and applicable regulations on site

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related discipline
• 6 months to 1 year of internship or entry-level experience as a project engineer or assistant project engineer in construction
• Proficiency with construction project management software and applications
• Basic financial skills and familiarity with construction cost tracking
• Ability to work in the field and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Availability for frequent travel across Florida, Arizona, Colorado, Arkansas, Georgia, North Carolina, and other project locations
