Job Description

Pearce Services, a leading asset management provider for mission-critical infrastructure across North America, is hiring a Field Maintenance Technician for its Chicago, Illinois location. This entry-level role involves hands-on maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical equipment at warehouses, solar farms, battery energy storage sites, and other customer facilities. The position requires 100% travel on a 6 weeks on, 1 week off rotational schedule, with a base in the Chicago area.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and facility equipment
  • Troubleshoot equipment and systems to identify issues and complete repairs safely and efficiently
  • Assist with preventative maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime
  • Install and maintain conduit, cable trays, brackets, supports, shelving, and other equipment as needed
  • Support warehouse, fleet, and shop operations, including equipment maintenance and organization
  • Assist experienced field technicians with maintenance and repairs at commercial solar and battery energy storage sites
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and material handling equipment
  • Maintain accurate documentation of completed work and follow company safety procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Requirements

  • 1 year of hands-on experience in maintenance, construction, automotive, manufacturing, military, industrial, or related field; or completion of a trade school program
  • Mechanical aptitude and foundational understanding of electrical systems
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and working on concrete floors
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights of 6–30 feet
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools (drills, saws, wrenches, measuring tools)
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, hoists, and lifts as required
  • Willingness and ability to travel 100% following the 6 weeks on, 1 week off rotational schedule
  • Current residence in the Chicago, Illinois area for onsite work
