Experienced Critical Power Field Technician (UPS Field Engineer)

Pearce Services seeks an Experienced Critical Power Field Technician (UPS Field Engineer) based in Dallas, TX. The role supports customers across the DFW region and surrounding areas through preventive maintenance, emergency service, commissioning, and battery services on UPS systems, DC power systems, battery plants, PDUs, and static transfer switches. Work occurs in mission-critical environments such as data centers, telecommunications facilities, healthcare sites, and industrial locations. Pearce is a subsidiary of CBRE Group, Inc. with more than 4,000 employees and operations that include battery energy storage systems for renewable energy markets.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on UPS systems, battery plants, DC power systems, PDUs, STS units, inverters, and related critical power equipment.
• Diagnose electrical and control system faults using schematics, test equipment, manufacturer documentation, and industry best practices.
• Install, commission, and replace UPS systems, battery strings, battery monitoring systems, maintenance bypass equipment, and associated power infrastructure.
• Respond to emergency service calls and restore customer systems to operational status.
• Perform battery testing, capacity testing, failure analysis, and lifecycle replacement services.
• Complete service reports, maintenance documentation, and customer communications.
• Mentor junior technicians and support field training efforts by sharing troubleshooting techniques, safety practices, and technical knowledge.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, company safety procedures, and customer site requirements.
• Support additional field service activities as business and customer needs evolve.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience servicing UPS systems, battery systems, DC power equipment, generators, switchgear, data center infrastructure, or other mission-critical electrical infrastructure.
• Experience supporting equipment from manufacturers such as Eaton, Vertiv/Liebert, Schneider Electric/APC, Mitsubishi, Toshiba, ABB, or comparable critical power platforms.
• Strong understanding of AC and DC electrical theory, power distribution systems, and battery technologies.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Experience using multimeters, power quality analyzers, battery testing equipment, and other diagnostic tools.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and ability to meet company vehicle requirements.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or move equipment and materials weighing up to 100 pounds with or without assistance.
• Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, and work in confined or restricted-access areas.
• Ability to work safely around energized electrical equipment and within mission-critical customer environments.
• Willingness and ability to travel throughout the assigned service territory, including overnight and multi-day travel as business needs require.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to customer emergencies when required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance access to customer facilities, including data centers, telecommunications sites, healthcare facilities, industrial locations, and government installations.
