Job Description
The Certified Electrician 1 position is with Sunrun in Lihue, HI. The role centers on electrical work for residential solar arrays, battery storage systems, and related upgrades. It includes 5% travel and access to the Power+ training program for work across installation, inspection, and service tasks.
Responsibilities
- Lead installation of electrical systems that connect solar arrays to customer grid power
- Verify that all electrician work meets workmanship standards and complies with current NEC and local codes
- Complete assigned solar battery installations
- Troubleshoot system problems and resolve electrical issues
- Plan and perform main panel upgrades safely
- Coordinate with branch teams and homeowners on system upgrades or repairs
- Work with local inspectors to meet requirements
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- Electrical installation and repair experience
- Experience with electrical work involving wiring up to 600 VDC and 480 VAC
- Working knowledge of replacing residential electrical services and distribution panels preferred
- Valid Journeyman License or Electrician Certification, or equivalent such as a wireman license, meeting local and state requirements
- Clean driving record and ability to pass a driving background check
- Minimum age of 21 with a valid driver’s license
- Ability to transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
- Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balancing
- Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces, including kneeling and crouching
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions including excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, and humidity
- Ability to perform fine motor skills such as fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching
- Ability to work safely with ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other personal protective equipment
- Ability to work while wearing heavy protective equipment such as arc flash suits, gloves, and face shields
- Ability to maintain balance on roofs and other elevated areas
- Ability to work in sun and low-light conditions
- Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without damage
- Ability to distinguish colors such as red, black, yellow, white, and green
- Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings
- Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protection
