Installer

The Installer role at Sunrun is based at the Bay Area South, CA branch and forms part of a residential solar installation construction team. The position works in direct partnership with the Foreperson and Lead Installer to complete projects. Sunrun’s Power+ program provides cross-training across installation, inspection, and service tasks to support year-round work.

Responsibilities

• Ensure personal, crew, and job site safety at all times and participate in training on new products, installation methods, and safety procedures
• Review inventory at the loading dock to confirm the assigned crew truck is adequately stocked
• Complete layout and assemble solar modules, racking, mechanical and structural mounts, electrical equipment, and tools according to the project plan
• Apply weather sealing to roofing structures, buildings, or support mechanisms
• Perform project cleanup at the client site and in the installation vehicle to maintain an orderly work environment

Requirements

• Previous solar, construction, or military experience preferred
• Ability to identify and report safety hazards while following company safety policies and procedures
• Ability to transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
• Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balancing
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights while using fall protection harnesses and other personal protective equipment
• Ability to work in outdoor conditions including excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, and humidity
• Ability to perform fine motor skills such as fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching
• Ability to work and maintain balance on roofs, rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles
• Ability to work in the sun, low light conditions, and confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
• Ability to distinguish colors including red, black, yellow, white, and green
• Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings
• Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protections
