Job Description

Pearce Services, a provider of technical maintenance and operations for mission-critical infrastructure including power, cooling, and telecommunications systems across North America, seeks a Telecommunications Lead Installer - Level IV for its Fresno, California office. This role involves directing and performing installation, reconfiguration, removal, and maintenance of central office equipment including transmission, power, infrastructure, and fiber systems, with supervisory responsibility for assigned crew members.

Responsibilities

  • Master all installation skills per Telco Standard TP76300 and perform all Level IV duties with high competence and accuracy as a working lead with assigned team members
  • Demonstrate comprehensive equipment installation expertise across AC/DC power systems, low/high-density fiber systems, central office infrastructure, and supervisory/alarm systems
  • Install and configure transport equipment including systems from Ciena, Fujitsu, Cisco, Nortel, Nokia, DELL, and Juniper
  • Apply deep understanding of fiber installation standards and procedures
  • Lead installation projects and supervise lower-level installers and technicians in basic installation and testing requirements
  • Read and follow Method of Procedures, order specifications, floor plans, equipment, and wiring documentation
  • Ensure accuracy of all required documentation and system updates for company and customer installation records
  • Interface with customers, vendors, and company employees for equipment completion, testing, and system turn-up
  • Perform in-process and final quality audits to meet or exceed industry and customer standards
  • Physically place, remove, or modify working and non-working equipment
  • Install cable trays and racking from engineering documents
  • Install telecommunications equipment cabinets, frames, data servers, switches, routers, repeaters, bridges, gateways, multiplexers, transceivers, and firewalls
  • Install BDFBs and fuse panels with associated cabling
  • Identify, label, measure, terminate, and route cables for AC/DC power and data transmission in technical spaces
  • Conduct testing and document hardware and software performance characteristics
  • Perform advanced test and turn-up activities and system integration
  • Resolve equipment and technical issues as they arise
  • Review subordinate time and expense documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Generate MOPs, high-risk activity reports, work schedules, test records, and project completion reports

Requirements

  • Minimum 8+ years installation experience or combination of experience and training as determined by company management
  • Prior leadership experience required
  • High school diploma with two years technical school or equivalent combination of training and experience in telecommunications field installations
  • Proficiency in telecommunications fiber installation standards and procedures
  • Experience with transport equipment from manufacturers including Ciena, Fujitsu, Cisco, Nortel, Nokia, DELL, and Juniper
  • Proficient laptop computer skills and experience with standard business applications
  • Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass all pre-employment background checks
  • Valid passport (preferred)
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout home region and across the US without restrictions; international travel ability is a plus
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts
  • Ability to vertically lift 50 lbs; able to stand, walk, climb ladders, and crawl in tight spaces
  • Compliance with OSHA standards
  • AT&T direct central office installation experience (preferred)
