Job Description

The Senior Project Manager position at AES is located in Conshohocken, PA. This role oversees high-impact photovoltaic solar and energy storage projects from development through construction, commissioning, and turnover to operations. The position reports to the Director of Project Management and requires periodic travel to project locations for management of distributed generation and utility-scale portfolios.

Responsibilities

  • Define and document RFPs and scope of work packages for third-party EPC firms.
  • Lead EPC selection and contract negotiation processes.
  • Conduct due diligence on potential solar sites, including evaluation of environmental, geotechnical, and other reports.
  • Collaborate with development teams to establish internal budgets and project schedules for execution plans.
  • Serve as owner’s representative for EPC contract management on utility-scale PV solar and energy storage projects.
  • Lead EPC contract negotiations with legal, contract management, and subject matter expert teams.
  • Review and manage EPC contractor schedules, budgets, scope, subcontractors, EHS plans, and permit compliance.
  • Coordinate utility interconnection processes, including related documentation for project testing and energization.
  • Manage engagements with stakeholders including landowners, local agencies, customers, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Support permitting and jurisdictional approval processes for project construction.
  • Coordinate with EPC contractors and equipment vendors to ensure contract compliance and timely deliverables.
  • Manage activities of internal teams including project engineering, commissioning, procurement, asset management, legal, finance, and accounting staff.
  • Conduct on-site inspections to verify quality control and safe construction practices, coordinating third-party firms as needed.
  • Lead project status update meetings with management, off-takers, utilities, EPCs, and finance parties using detailed plans and dashboards.
  • Manage collection, organization, and filing of all project documentation for internal and external stakeholders, including financing needs.
  • Lead project turnover from construction to asset operations teams.
  • Assist with development of internal operating policies, standards, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, project management, construction management, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in project management for construction of renewable energy projects.
  • Familiarity with photovoltaic solar design and technical standards, plus civil and structural technical knowledge.
  • Experience leading EPC contract negotiations.
  • Experience in utility-scale PV solar project construction; energy storage experience preferred.
  • Project Management Institute PMP certification preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with CPM scheduling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to travel to project locations up to 30%.
  • Spanish language skills a plus.
