Desert Pine BESS- Civil/Mechanical Equipment Operator (Non Driver)

The Civil/Mechanical Equipment Operator (Non Driver) position at Primoris supports construction of the Desert Pine BESS project in Arizona. This non-driving role focuses on equipment operation within the project boundaries during battery energy storage system installation. Primoris Renewable Energy provides engineering, procurement, and construction services for utility-scale solar power and energy storage projects.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, forklifts, telehandlers, and other specialized civil and mechanical construction equipment.
• Perform daily pre-operational checks and routine maintenance on assigned equipment, reporting malfunctions to supervision.
• Follow all safety protocols, company policies, and environmental regulations on the job site.
• Excavate, backfill, grade, and compact earth materials according to project plans and specifications.
• Assist with offloading, staging, and installation of BESS components, modules, and associated mechanical equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings for accurate equipment operation and material placement.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area around equipment.
• Participate in daily safety briefings.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience operating heavy civil and mechanical construction equipment on industrial or utility-scale projects.
• Proven ability to operate multiple types of heavy equipment safely and proficiently.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, grades, and survey stakes.
• Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions including extreme temperatures and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Experience with BESS or renewable energy projects preferred.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
