Electrical Estimator II

The Electrical Estimator II role at Rosendin Electric is located in the Office Southern California, CA. This mid-level position prepares bid documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects while supporting small- to medium-sized work under guidance from senior estimators. Rosendin is one of the largest electrical contractors in the United States and operates as an employee-owned company.

Responsibilities

• Review proposal specifications and drawings to establish project scope and requirements.
• Perform complete quantity takeoffs and enter data into the computerized estimating system, then verify the output for accuracy.
• Identify qualified suppliers and subcontractors and obtain competitive quotes.
• Evaluate received quotes against plans and specifications for completeness.
• Itemize all incidentals such as subcontract work, equipment rental, tools, and supplies needed for bid packages.
• Guide team members preparing the completion matrix for assigned bids.
• Develop labor productivity factors and installation unit costs using projected site conditions and historical data in coordination with senior estimators.
• Compile scope of work, technical requirements, and pricing for presentation to lead estimator, estimating manager, or chief estimator.
• Meet with project management teams after award to explain estimates, scope, and quotes for project transition.
• Complete all client-required documents on schedule and prepare scope letters with inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications.
• Maintain organized files of working documents that support estimating assumptions and methods.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or a combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
• Minimum three years of experience estimating commercial construction projects, preferably electrical.
• Advanced knowledge of construction technology, estimating techniques, and cost control within the assigned discipline.
• Proficiency with Accubid estimating software.
• Proficiency with CAD or 3D software preferred.
• Ability to interpret computerized cost data, electrical systems, engineering design drawings, specifications, and front-end documents.
• Capability to perform required arithmetic calculations for estimating.
• Ability to solve practical problems involving variables where limited standardization exists.
• General work environment involving prolonged sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending.
• Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
• Up to 10% travel required.
