Job Description

The Senior Electrical Estimator role at Rosendin Electric is based in the Hillsboro and TriMet District, OR offices. This position prepares bid and submittal documents along with cost estimates for electrical construction projects, serving as lead estimator and coordinating with other estimators, suppliers, and customers. Rosendin is one of the largest electrical contractors in the United States and is fully employee-owned.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare estimates from quantity take-offs on projects and complete estimates for computer printout
  • Identify parts of projects that may be key to making a competitive estimate
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
  • Evaluate areas for potential value engineering cost savings
  • Provide leadership to personnel preparing discipline sub-estimates for assigned bids
  • Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back up estimate figures
  • Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on projected site conditions and historical data
  • Prepare detailed listings of material and equipment items for estimates and obtain quotes
  • Identify qualified suppliers and subcontractors and solicit quotes
  • Review quotes for completeness and conformance with plans and specifications
  • Ensure timely completion of all client-required documents
  • Draft scope and proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects
  • Provide the Chief Estimator with a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing prior to issuing formal bid packages
  • Meet with Project Management departments after successful bids to explain job scope, potential areas of attention, and other aspects for project transition
  • Maintain files of all working documents to back up estimate figures and update the approved estimating program

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or a combination of education, training, and relevant experience
  • Minimum 4 years of estimating or other relevant experience in closing construction estimates
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering design drawings
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating
  • Ability to estimate all types of projects and to coordinate and supervise group work effort
  • Proficiency with Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software
  • Proficiency with CAD or 3D software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and change priorities as necessary
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements
  • Up to 10% travel
  • General work environment including sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending
  • Work conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning; noise level typically low to medium, and can be loud on job sites
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs
