Job Description

The Installer position at Sunrun is located in Beltsville, MD and serves as a core member of residential solar installation construction teams. The role partners with the Foreperson and Lead Installer to complete projects involving home solar and battery systems. Sunrun offers the Power+ program, which provides training across installation, inspection, and service tasks to support year-round work.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure personal, crew, and job site safety at all times while participating in training on new products, installation methods, and safety practices.
  • Review inventory at the loading dock to confirm the assigned crew truck is adequately stocked.
  • Complete layout and assemble solar modules, racking, mechanical and structural mounts, and electrical equipment and tools as specified in the project plan.
  • Apply weather sealing to roofing structures, buildings, or support mechanisms.
  • Perform project cleanup at client sites and in installation vehicles to maintain an orderly work environment.

Requirements

  • Previous solar, construction, or military experience preferred.
  • Ability to transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balancing.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in outdoor conditions including excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, and humidity.
  • Ability to perform fine motor skills such as fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching.
  • Ability to work within safe ranges of ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to maintain balance on roofs and other elevated areas, work in sun or low light, walk on rafters, roof tiles, and shingles without damage, and distinguish colors such as red, black, yellow, white, and green.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces requiring kneeling and crouching.
  • Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings.
  • Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protections.
