Installer

The Installer role at Sunrun is located in San Jose, CA. This position works as part of a residential solar installation construction team alongside a Foreperson and Lead Installer. Sunrun provides training across installation, inspection, and service tasks through its Power+ program.

Responsibilities

• Ensure personal, crew, and job site safety at all times and participate in training on new products, installation methods, and safety.
• Review inventory at the loading dock to confirm the assigned crew truck is adequately stocked.
• Complete layout and assemble solar modules, racking, mechanical and structural mounts, electrical equipment, and tools as specified in the project plan.
• Apply weather sealing to roofing structures, buildings, or support mechanisms.
• Perform project cleanup at the client site and in the installation vehicle to maintain an orderly work environment.

Requirements

• Previous solar, construction, or military experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces, including frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balancing.
• Ability to climb ladders and work in outdoor conditions including excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, and humidity.
• Ability to frequently use hand functions requiring fine motor skills such as fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching.
• Ability to work within the safe range of equipment including ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other personal protective equipment.
• Ability to work and maintain balance on roofs and other elevated areas, in the sun or low light conditions, and on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without damage.
• Ability to distinguish colors such as red, black, yellow, white, and green.
• Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces, including kneeling and crouching.
• Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings.
• Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protections.
