Installer

The Installer role at Sunrun is based in Somerset, NJ and serves as a core member of a residential solar installation construction team. The position works alongside the Foreperson and Lead Installer to complete projects from module layout through final cleanup. Sunrun offers the Power+ training program to build skills across qualifying, installing, inspecting, and servicing systems.

Responsibilities

• Ensure personal, crew, and job site safety at all times and participate in training on new products, installation methods, and safety procedures.
• Review inventory at the loading dock to confirm the assigned crew truck is adequately stocked.
• Complete layout and assembly of solar modules, racking, mechanical and structural mounts, electrical equipment, and tools according to the project plan.
• Apply weather sealing to roofing structures, buildings, or support mechanisms.
• Perform project cleanup at the client site and in the installation vehicle to maintain an orderly work environment.

Requirements

• Previous solar, construction, or military experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces, requiring frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance.
• Ability to climb ladders and maintain balance on roofs and other elevated areas.
• Ability to work in outdoor conditions including excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, and humidity, as well as in direct sun or low light.
• Ability to perform fine motor tasks including fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching.
• Ability to work safely with ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other personal protective equipment.
• Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without causing damage.
• Ability to distinguish colors including red, black, yellow, white, and green.
• Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces, requiring kneeling and crouching.
• Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings.
• Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protections.
