Job Description
The Installer role at Sunrun is based in San Diego, CA and supports residential solar installation projects as part of a construction team. The position works in partnership with a Foreperson and Lead Installer on module, racking, and electrical tasks. Sunrun provides training through its Power+ program that covers qualifying homes, installation, inspection, and service work to build versatility across teams.
Responsibilities
- Ensure personal, crew, and job site safety at all times and participate in training on new products, installation methods, and safety practices.
- Review inventory at the loading dock to confirm the assigned crew truck is adequately stocked.
- Complete layout and assemble solar modules, racking, mechanical and structural mounts, electrical equipment, and tools according to the project plan.
- Apply weather sealing to roofing structures, buildings, or support mechanisms.
- Perform project cleanup at the client site and in the installation vehicle to maintain an orderly work environment.
Requirements
- Previous solar, construction, or military experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces, requiring frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights using fall protection harnesses and other personal protective equipment.
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions including excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, and humidity.
- Ability to perform fine motor skills including fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching.
- Ability to work and maintain balance on roofs, rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles.
- Ability to work in the sun and low light conditions, distinguish colors such as red, black, yellow, white, and green, and work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces.
- Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings and work with chemicals using appropriate protections.
