Job Description
The Assistant Electrical Superintendent role at SOLV Energy is a full-time jobsite position in Pekin, IL, supporting utility-scale solar projects with required travel to additional sites. SOLV Energy designs, builds, and maintains solar, battery storage, and high-voltage substation infrastructure nationwide. The position reports to the Electrical Superintendent and involves direct oversight of electrical scope, subcontractors, and field crews.
Responsibilities
- Enforce company safety procedures and policies, lead by example, and participate in safety training programs.
- Coordinate constructability for the electrical scope of utility-scale solar projects with project and engineering teams.
- Review and interpret contracts, proposals, drawings, specifications, schedules, and submittals from preconstruction through site build-out.
- Support preparation and maintenance of project schedules using CPM methods to meet milestones.
- Recruit, organize, train, and coordinate field construction teams including subcontractors and direct-hire personnel.
- Maintain quality control standards and compliance with project specifications.
- Order and track materials, tools, and equipment to ensure availability.
- Prepare and maintain daily reports, time sheets, work orders, and invoice approvals.
- Attend and participate in pre-job, progress, and subcontractor coordination meetings.
- Assist with start-up testing, commissioning, and project turnover including documentation and acceptance.
- Review and process punch lists to complete project close-out.
- Provide day-to-day field leadership and direct subcontractors and multiple crews on active job sites.
- Identify and resolve issues to maintain schedule, safety, and quality standards.
- Mentor and train subordinates including General Foremen, Foremen, and crew members.
- Conduct performance evaluations and assist with hiring and disciplinary decisions.
- Verify all work meets required quality, safety, and workmanship standards.
- Support RFIs, submittals, and project documentation as needed.
- Maintain working knowledge of commissioning and testing procedures for the solar industry.
- Act as liaison with owners, subcontractors, and on-site teams.
- Lead and coordinate electrical subcontractors, testing agencies, and commissioning teams.
- Enforce Lockout/Tagout procedures and maintain electrical safety standards.
- Collaborate with mechanical and civil teams on project execution.
- Travel as required to support multiple project sites, with all travel fully expensed.
Requirements
- 5 years of field construction experience at a supervisory level.
- 3 years of experience in utility-scale solar.
- Knowledge of OSHA laws, NFPA 70E, and NEC standards and codes.
- Knowledge of job scheduling, planning, expediting, and cost control.
- 2 years of utility-scale solar commissioning experience.
- Extensive knowledge of PV solar systems and DC cable systems.
- Proficient in underground electrical installations including cable pulling through conduits, bores, and direct-buried AC/DC feeder installations.
- Experience with inverter skid underground installation, setting, terminations, and testing.
- Strong knowledge of electrical testing and commissioning.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
