Job Description

The Senior Electrical Estimator role at Rosendin Electric is based at the LPG Pflugerville, TX location and requires relocation to one of the following sites: Austin TX, Houston TX, Dallas TX, San Antonio TX, El Paso TX, or Tempe AZ. Relocation assistance is provided, and the position is on-site. Rosendin Electric is an employee-owned electrical contractor with more than 7,000 employees.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare estimates from quantity take-offs on projects and complete estimates to computer printout.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Identify parts of projects that may be key to making a competitive estimate and evaluate areas for potential value engineering cost savings.
  • Provide leadership to personnel preparing discipline sub-estimates for assigned bids.
  • Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back up estimate figures.
  • Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on projected site conditions and historical data.
  • Prepare detailed listings of material and equipment items for estimates and obtain quotes from qualified suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Review quotes for completeness and conformance with plans and specifications.
  • Ensure timely completion of all client-required documents and draft scope or proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects.
  • Provide the Chief Estimator with a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing prior to issuing the formal bid package.
  • Meet with Project Management departments after successful bids to explain job scope and other aspects for project transition.
  • Maintain files of all working documents to back up estimate figures and update the approved estimating program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or a combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of estimating or other relevant experience in closing construction estimates.
  • Experience in Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software preferred.
  • Experience in CAD or 3D software preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering design drawings.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating.
  • Ability to estimate all types of projects and to coordinate and supervise group work effort.
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and change priorities as necessary.
  • Travel up to 10%.
  • General work environment includes sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending.
  • Work conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning; noise level typically low to medium but can be loud on a job site.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
