Job Description

This Certified Electrician 3 role is based at Sunrun in Downey, CA. The position leads electrical work for residential solar and battery installations, including main panel upgrades, troubleshooting, and mentoring team members. The role requires 100% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead installation of electrical systems interconnecting solar arrays to grid power on residential properties
  • Ensure all electrical work meets current NEC and local codes
  • Complete assigned solar battery installations
  • Troubleshoot system problems and resolve electrical issues
  • Plan and complete main panel upgrades
  • Coordinate with branch teams and homeowners on system upgrades or repairs
  • Mentor team members to build electrical skills and train on Sunrun practices
  • Collaborate with license holders, AHJ inspectors, and crew as electrical subject matter expert
  • Address recurring quality issues and failed inspections to improve pass rates
  • Perform PV installation crew duties and lead crews when foreman is absent

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years solar electrical installation and repair experience
  • Experience with electrical work involving wiring up to 1000 VDC and 480 VAC
  • Working knowledge and experience replacing residential electrical services and distribution panels
  • Ability to perform all duties of a Certified Electrician 1
  • Valid Journeyman License/Electrician Certification or equivalent per local and state requirements
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass driving background check
  • 21 years of age with valid driver’s license
  • Certification to operate forklift, scissor lift, snorkel lift, and skid steer
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Working knowledge of current NEC codes
  • Ability to interpret single line drawings and PV systems from roof to meter
  • Ability to transport materials and equipment up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces requiring frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces
  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions including excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet environments, and humidity
  • Ability to perform fine motor skills including fine manipulation, grasping, and pinching
  • Ability to work within safe range of ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other PPE
  • Ability to work while wearing heavy protective equipment such as arc flash suits, gloves, and face shields
  • Ability to work and maintain balance on roofs and other areas of height
  • Ability to work in sun and low light conditions
  • Ability to walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without damage
  • Ability to distinguish colors such as red, black, yellow, white, and green
  • Ability to hear verbal commands and warnings
  • Ability to work with chemicals using appropriate protection
  • Starting wage $56.40 to $75.20 per hour
