EPC Project Manager, Utility Scale Solar (Fabens, TX)

The EPC Project Manager position at SOLV Energy is based full-time on a jobsite in Fabens, TX. This role oversees all aspects of utility-scale solar projects from planning through close-out, with a minimum 50% travel requirement that includes extended assignments in remote or rural areas. SOLV Energy designs, builds, and maintains utility-scale solar, battery storage, and high-voltage substation projects nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Partner with superintendent teams to plan and execute self-performed work scopes, including sequencing, crew sizing, productivity targets, and monthly labor budgets.
• Track actual production results against forecasts and adjust projections accordingly.
• Develop and implement site-specific safety plans in coordination with superintendents.
• Prepare project billings to maximize cash flow and reduce pay cycles, while prioritizing collection of aged receivables.
• Present and negotiate change orders with owners for timely resolution.
• Negotiate cost-effective subcontracts and material purchases.
• Establish job procedures to ensure timely buyout, shop drawing approvals, and material deliveries.
• Maintain project schedules and provide accurate cost forecasting and estimated cost at completion reports to management.
• Manage, train, and supervise project team members while mentoring junior staff on professional development.
• Review contract conditions to ensure full compliance with all terms.
• Document significant project events such as accidents, delays, and change orders.
• Direct preconstruction services and activities, including preparation and issuance of subcontract bid packages.
• Evaluate project risks for probability and severity, then develop mitigation plans with the project team and operations management.
• Develop and implement a Site-Specific Quality Management Plan to maintain quality control standards.
• Resolve or avoid claims and conflicts while completing all job close-out procedures.
• Conduct warranty follow-up during the standard two-year period.
• Complete projects at full or enhanced fee levels.
• Build and maintain relationships with owners, architects, and subcontractors while preserving contractual rights.
• Coordinate with material suppliers to resolve logistical and supply-chain issues for timely deliveries.
• Negotiate with local contract labor providers to secure sufficient manpower at competitive rates.
• Organize and lead regular meetings with owners and key project partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or architecture preferred.
• 5-8 years of field construction management experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite and industry-standard tools such as Bluebeam Revu; CMiC experience a plus.
• Fundamental knowledge of contract law and project accounting.
• Thorough understanding of project management control systems including scheduling, cost control, procurement, and estimating.
• Strong understanding of utility-scale PV plant construction means, methods, sequencing, and techniques.
• Understanding of utility and ISO interconnection sequences and durations.
• Ability to travel extensively (minimum 50%), including lengthy jobsite-based assignments in remote or rural areas.
