Senior Quality Inspector

The Senior Quality Inspector is a hands-on, non-exempt individual contributor role at Primoris (Premier PV) in Dallas, TX. The position serves as technical lead for quality inspection activities in the company’s solar electrical balance of systems manufacturing operations and provides training and guidance to other inspectors. Work occurs primarily on the production floor with documentation in Smartsheet and related systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily inspection priorities, workload, and coverage as technical lead for manufacturing quality activities.
• Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of materials, components, subassemblies, and finished products using approved drawings, specifications, work instructions, control plans, checklists, and acceptance criteria.
• Conduct visual, dimensional, and electrical inspections with appropriate measurement and test equipment.
• Interpret engineering prints, manufacturing drawings, diagrams, wire cards, bills of material, tolerances, and quality requirements to verify product conformance.
• Train, mentor, and provide technical guidance to newly hired and less-experienced Quality Inspectors.
• Enter and maintain inspection results, quality records, and production-floor findings in Smartsheet and applicable systems.
• Identify, document, segregate, and communicate nonconforming materials or products.
• Support initial review of quality issues, gather inspection information, and assist with containment or corrective actions.
• Maintain calibration schedules, equipment identification and traceability, and proper handling of out-of-calibration measuring or test equipment.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain departments on manufacturing quality concerns.
• Identify recurring defects or inspection trends and recommend improvements.
• Support internal or external audits as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; technical school coursework or related certification preferred.
• Five or more years of hands-on manufacturing quality inspection or closely related experience preferred; candidates with three to four years of strong, directly related experience may be considered.
• Demonstrated experience performing inspections in an active manufacturing or production-floor environment.
• Experience training, mentoring, or providing technical guidance to new or less-experienced employees.
• Proficiency with inspection and measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and multimeters.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, diagrams, wire cards, work instructions, and inspection plans.
• Working knowledge of incoming, in-process, and final inspection methods, nonconformance controls, calibration requirements, and equipment traceability.
• Basic knowledge of quality issue analysis, root-cause concepts, corrective actions, and manufacturing quality systems.
• Ability to enter, maintain, and communicate inspection information using Smartsheet and other standard computer or quality systems.
• Experience supporting quality audits and analyzing defect or inspection trends preferred.
• Prior training in general safety, electrostatic discharge awareness, foreign object damage awareness, and quality system awareness preferred.
• Must comply with safety requirements including respirator use (clean-shaven when required), long sleeves, and steel-toe or other required protective footwear.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently use hands and arms to handle, inspect, position, or test materials and components.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, and stairways.
• Must be able to work at heights or in confined spaces when assigned and trained.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; assistance required for heavier loads.
• Must be able to visually inspect product details and distinguish conditions necessary to determine conformance, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must pass a drug screen and background check.
