Job Description

The Senior Estimator position at Rosendin Electric is located in the Sacramento, CA office. This role prepares bid and submittal documents along with cost estimates for electrical construction projects and serves as lead estimator, coordinating with other estimators, suppliers, and customers. Rosendin is one of the largest electrical contractors in the United States and operates as an employee-owned company.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare estimates from quantity take-offs on projects and finalize them in computer printout format.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required estimate contents.
  • Identify portions of projects that may be key to competitive pricing and evaluate areas for potential value engineering cost savings.
  • Provide leadership to personnel preparing discipline sub-estimates for assigned bids.
  • Maintain all working documents and data to support estimate figures.
  • Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on projected site conditions and historical data.
  • Prepare detailed material and equipment listings for estimates and obtain quotes from qualified suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Review quotes for completeness and conformance with plans and specifications.
  • Ensure timely completion of all client-required documents and draft scope or proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of scope, technical requirements, and pricing with the Chief Estimator prior to issuing formal bid packages.
  • Meet with Project Management teams after successful bids to explain job scope and transition details.
  • Maintain files of working documents to back up estimate figures and update the approved estimating program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or a combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of estimating or other relevant experience closing construction estimates.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering design drawings.
  • Proficiency performing arithmetic calculations required for estimating.
  • Experience with Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software (preferred).
  • Experience with CAD or 3D software (preferred).
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Up to 10% travel.
  • Capability for general office work including extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending, with occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
