Job Description

The Senior Estimator role at Rosendin Electric is based in the Sacramento, CA office and focuses on preparing bid and submittal documents plus cost estimates for electrical construction projects. The position serves as lead estimator on assigned bids and coordinates with other estimators, suppliers, and customers. Rosendin Electric is an employee-owned electrical contractor with more than 7,000 employees.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare estimates from quantity take-offs and complete them for computer printout
  • Identify project elements that may affect competitive pricing
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings and attend pre-bid meetings to define scope and estimate contents
  • Evaluate areas for potential value-engineering cost savings
  • Provide leadership to personnel preparing discipline sub-estimates for assigned bids
  • Maintain all working documents and data to support estimate figures
  • Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on projected site conditions and historical data
  • Prepare detailed material and equipment listings and obtain quotes
  • Identify qualified suppliers and subcontractors and solicit quotes
  • Review quotes for completeness and conformance with plans and specifications
  • Complete all client-required documents on schedule
  • Draft scope and proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects
  • Provide the Chief Estimator with a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing before formal bid package issuance
  • Meet with Project Management after successful bids to explain job scope and transition details
  • Maintain files of working documents to support estimate figures and update the approved estimating program

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or a combination of education, training, and relevant experience
  • Minimum 4 years of estimating or other relevant experience closing construction estimates
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering design drawings
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating
  • Experience estimating all types of projects and coordinating group work effort
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Experience with Accubid estimating software, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam software preferred
  • Experience with CAD or 3D software preferred
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, type, carry, push, and bend
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally
  • Up to 10% travel required
