Job Description

Origis Energy Services seeks a Solar Electrician / Technician to maintain and repair utility-scale solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage systems at our Goldsmith, Texas facility. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring independent troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs on AC/DC electrical equipment.

About the Role

You will perform maintenance, inspections, and repairs on utility-scale PV arrays, inverters, transformers, switchgear, and energy storage systems. The role involves monitoring plant operations via SCADA, executing installation tasks, and maintaining detailed records using CMMS software. You may advance to mentoring junior technicians and leading complex troubleshooting across multiple OEM platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs on AC and DC systems, including inverters, PV modules, transformers, switchgear, and high-voltage components
  • Monitor plant operations through SCADA systems and contribute to commissioning, testing, and system modifications
  • Follow strict safety protocols including Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures, ensuring compliance with site requirements
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and support maintenance activities as directed
  • Collaborate with remote operators to identify and resolve site issues
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS software
  • Execute installation tasks with proficiency in torquing, calibration, and specialized tool operation
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and work procedures
  • Verify tooling and parts against work plans and generate findings reports
  • Lead advanced troubleshooting across multiple OEM systems when qualified by experience level
  • Develop and implement LOTO procedures and electrical work plans as appropriate to role level
  • Serve as primary customer interface, communicating site conditions and technical findings to internal and external stakeholders
  • Train and mentor junior technicians in safety standards and industry-approved practices
  • Develop and execute work plans and maintenance schedules

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in large-scale solar operations and maintenance (experience level varies by position tier)
  • Competency in industrial or utility power operations, troubleshooting, and general maintenance procedures
  • Proficiency reading electrical schematics and operating SCADA systems
  • Experience using CMMS software for maintenance tracking
  • Strong computer skills with SCADA and CMMS applications
  • Electrical certifications or industry training preferred
  • 4+ years direct or related solar industry experience required for advanced positions (Solar Technician 3–4)
  • Advanced knowledge of LOTO procedures and electrical work planning for senior roles
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain multiple OEM systems for advanced positions
  • Proficiency creating complex schematics and work instructions for senior roles

Physical Requirements

  • Stand, walk (including 2+ miles per day), climb, bend, and kneel for extended periods in varying weather conditions
  • Lift and carry tools or equipment weighing up to 80 pounds
  • Maintain clear visual acuity (with or without corrective lenses) for reading schematics and operating tools and meters
  • Perform precise tasks requiring fine motor skills and strong hand-eye coordination
  • Work outside normal business hours and maintain on-call rotation schedule as required
  • Comply with drug-free and alcohol-free workplace policies

Benefits

  • Hourly rate: $25–$45 per hour (varies by experience level; Solar Technician 2 through Solar Technician 4 positions available)
  • Regional travel may be required to support multiple sites across Texas, Tennessee, New Mexico, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Illinois, and Missouri
