Job Description

Pearce Services seeks an Advanced Solar Field Service Technician for operations and maintenance work at solar energy sites near Huntsville, Alabama. This role focuses on preventative and corrective maintenance of utility-scale solar equipment while maintaining strict safety and professional standards.

About the Role

You will support the operations and maintenance of solar power plants serving the Huntsville, Alabama area. Candidates must reside within approximately 50 miles of Huntsville. The position involves both independent work and team collaboration, with potential weekend, holiday, and on-call availability via phone or text. Travel may be required up to 25% of the time based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on solar utility and sub-station equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and test installed solar equipment using digital multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, and similar diagnostic tools to ensure proper operation.
  • Perform electrical component troubleshooting and diagnostics with documented results.
  • Execute Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) protocols with demonstrated safety expertise.
  • Complete and maintain work orders, time logs, inventory control documentation, and emergency information schedules.
  • Operate and maintain a motor vehicle safely and in compliance with company policy and insurance requirements.
  • Work effectively in both solo and team environments.
  • Train, mentor, and develop laborers into apprentices when applicable.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in commercial or industrial operations and maintenance on solar power plants (preferred).
  • Demonstrated preventative maintenance experience on solar utility equipment (preferred).
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and installation skills.
  • Hands-on solar experience with inverters, tracker systems, or sub-station equipment from manufacturers such as TMEIC, SMA, Sungrow, Nextracker, or ATI (preferred).
  • Ability to comply with OSHA standards and safety regulations.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate and maintain a motor vehicle safely and legally.
  • Capacity to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying ambient temperatures.
  • Initiative to identify and escalate site issues.
  • Strong work ethic and high aptitude for technical problem-solving.
  • Residency within 50 miles of Huntsville, Alabama.

Compensation

$30.00–$42.00 per hour, depending on experience.
