Job Description

SOLV Energy, a provider of infrastructure services for utility-scale solar, battery storage, and high-voltage substation projects, seeks a Solar Field Service Technician (Level 1) in Lakeview, OR. This position emphasizes safety and hands-on learning in field maintenance across multiple solar plants.

About the Role

You will perform field maintenance and repair work on solar equipment at utility-scale installations while developing proficiency in safe solar industry practices. Working under supervision, you will gain technical knowledge through hands-on experience with solar systems, equipment testing, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Service solar equipment at multiple solar plants under direct supervision
  • Perform basic solar equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks using monitoring programs
  • Replace or repair solar parts and equipment under supervision
  • Operate and maintain company equipment, tools, and property
  • Respond on-call as directed to assist with emergency equipment repairs
  • Prepare accurate documentation and required reports of work performed
  • Identify and perform effective Lock Out/Tag Out procedures on energized parts and systems
  • Assess processes and suggest improvements; collaborate with EPC management on new technologies
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; vocational/technical school training preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work in mechanical and electrical environments through formal training or previous work experience
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Basic understanding of solar installations and plant operations
  • Basic knowledge of testing equipment
  • Basic computer operation skills
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions
  • NFPA 70e Safety Training certification required
  • Must maintain current status in all safety and technical trainings
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
  • Ability to work on-call basis, including weekends and after-hours situations
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicles
  • Frequent stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, and handling; constant finger dexterity and ability to see details at close and distance range
  • Ability to hear, talk, and maintain depth perception
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more regularly
  • Occasional climbing and carrying; ability to work in high, exposed, or difficult-to-access places near moving mechanical parts
  • Capability to tolerate high noise intensity levels and occasional exposure to harsh outdoor environments, vibration, dust, fumes, electric shock, radiation, and toxic/caustic chemicals
