Job Description

Pearce Services seeks an Advanced Solar Field Service Technician for operations and maintenance work at solar energy facilities near Burlington, Vermont. This position involves preventative and corrective maintenance of utility-scale solar equipment under established safety and professionalism standards.

About the Role

You will perform hands-on operations and maintenance at solar power plants in the Burlington, Vermont area. The role requires physical labor, equipment troubleshooting, and documentation of maintenance activities. You must reside within approximately 50 miles of Burlington, Vermont.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on solar utility and sub-station equipment
  • Troubleshoot and test installed solar equipment to ensure proper operation, using digital multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, and similar diagnostic tools
  • Complete work orders, time logs, inventory control documentation, and emergency information schedules
  • Perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) in accordance with safety protocols
  • Operate and maintain a motor vehicle safely and in compliance with company policy and insurance requirements
  • Work independently and collaboratively with team members as needed
  • Identify and escalate technical issues at site
  • Train and mentor field laborers toward apprenticeship roles

Requirements

  • 2+ years of commercial or industrial operations and maintenance experience on solar power plants (preferred)
  • Preventative maintenance experience on solar utility equipment (preferred)
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and installation skills
  • Experience with inverters, tracker systems, or sub-station equipment (TMEIC, SMA, Sungrow, Nextracker, ATI, or similar)
  • Compliance with OSHA standards
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and on-call availability via telephone or text
  • Travel up to 25% as needed
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a vehicle safely and legally
  • High work ethic and initiative
  • Residence within 50 miles of Burlington, Vermont

Compensation: $30.00–$42.00 per hour, depending on experience. Additional earnings may include performance bonuses, referral bonuses, production incentives, tool/equipment stipends, fuel allowances, and per diem as applicable.
