Job Description

Pearce Services seeks an Advanced Solar Field Service Technician for operations and maintenance work at solar energy facilities near Ridgely, Tennessee. This role involves preventative and corrective maintenance of utility-scale solar equipment, troubleshooting, and documentation in compliance with established safety and operational standards.

About the Role

You will support the Pearce Renewables Solar Operations and Maintenance Division by performing physical maintenance tasks at solar power plants. The position requires both independent and collaborative work, with local candidates residing within 50 miles of Ridgely, Tennessee preferred. Weekend and holiday availability, including on-call telephone/text response, may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on solar utility and sub-station equipment
  • Troubleshoot and test installed solar equipment to ensure proper operation
  • Perform electrical component diagnostics using digital multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, and similar instruments
  • Maintain detailed documentation including work orders, time logs, inventory control, and emergency schedules
  • Apply Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) protocols in all work
  • Operate and maintain company vehicles safely and in compliance with insurance requirements
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Train and mentor laborers and apprentices as needed

Requirements

  • 2+ years commercial/industrial operations and maintenance experience on solar power plants (preferred)
  • Preventative maintenance experience on solar utility equipment (preferred)
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and installation skills
  • Experience with inverters, tracker systems, or sub-station equipment from manufacturers such as TMEIC, SMA, Sungrow, Nextracker, or ATI (preferred)
  • Compliance with OSHA standards
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Residence within approximately 50 miles of Ridgely, Tennessee
  • Valid driver's license for safe vehicle operation
  • Willingness to work outdoors in ambient temperatures
  • Availability for weekend and holiday work, plus on-call service
  • Travel up to 25% as business needs require
  • Initiative in escalating site issues and strong work ethic

Compensation: $30.00–$42.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
