Solar Field Service Technician - Level 2 (Victoria, TX)

SOLV Energy is seeking a Solar Field Service Technician Level 2 for full-time work at a utility-scale solar facility in Victoria, TX. This role involves field maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of solar equipment and electrical systems with minimal supervision, and includes mentoring of Level 1 technicians.

About the Role

This position is based full-time on-site at a solar facility in Victoria, TX. You will perform equipment diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on utility-scale PV systems and associated electrical infrastructure, operating system monitoring platforms to identify and resolve issues. The role includes on-call service responsibilities and requires you to supervise and train Solar Technician Level 1 staff members.

Responsibilities

• Perform field maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of solar equipment and electrical systems with minimal or no supervision
• Execute diagnostic work using system monitoring applications (e.g., Locus, QOS, Vitals, RTDB) to identify equipment issues and determine corrective actions
• Conduct preventive maintenance and diagnostic inspections using monitoring platforms and document findings
• Perform Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and safely de-energize electrical systems before work begins
• Operate service equipment safely and maintain required operational records
• Create and complete work tickets in the Sprocket system from initiation through closure, tracking time, materials, and work performed
• Document and accurately report all maintenance and repair work
• Provide on-call service at assigned solar facilities, including after-hours and weekend availability
• Supervise and provide ongoing training to Solar Technician Level 1 employees
• Assess work hazards, implement mitigation measures, and issue Stop Work orders when safety concerns arise
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and coordinate with EPC management on new technologies
• Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and work procedures by all team members
• Complete additional assignments as directed

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
• Valid OSHA 30 Hour certification
• Valid NFPA 70E electrical safety training certification
• Demonstrated knowledge of safe electrical and mechanical practices
• Demonstrated ability to recognize work hazards and use proper mitigation tools and procedures
• Ability to identify energized and de-energized electrical parts and all incoming power sources
• Knowledge of basic electrical testing and troubleshooting equipment operation
• Ability to perform Lock Out/Tag Out procedures on energized parts and systems
• Proficiency with basic computer operation and system monitoring applications
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions effectively
• Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicles
• Effective verbal and written English language communication
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
• Ability to work on an on-call basis, including weekends and after-hours situations
• Ability to work collaboratively with other technicians
• Commitment to remaining current in all safety and technical trainings
• Vocational or technical school training is preferred
