Job Description

SOLV Energy seeks a Solar Field Service Technician (Level 1) for full-time fieldwork at a utility-scale solar facility in Snyder, TX. This position involves learning and performing maintenance on solar equipment and battery storage systems under supervision, with emphasis on safe work practices and hands-on technical development.

About the Role

You will support field maintenance operations at an active solar plant, working under direct supervision to develop core technical and safety competencies. This is an entry-level position designed to train you in utility-scale solar equipment service, troubleshooting, and repair protocols. You will be based full-time on the jobsite.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field maintenance and equipment service on solar installations under supervisor direction
  • Conduct basic solar equipment testing, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance using monitoring programs
  • Replace or repair solar equipment and components under supervision
  • Execute Lock Out/Tag Out procedures safely on energized equipment and systems
  • Operate and maintain company equipment, tooling, and property
  • Respond to on-call emergency repair requests as directed by supervisor
  • Document work performed and complete required field reports accurately
  • Identify process improvements and collaborate with EPC management on implementation of new technologies
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and company procedures

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (vocational/technical training preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in a mechanical or electrical environment through formal training or prior work
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Basic knowledge of solar installations and plant operations
  • Familiarity with testing equipment and basic computer operation
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions with strong English communication skills
  • Must obtain NFPA 70E Safety Training certification
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicles
  • Ability to work in remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
  • Availability for on-call work including weekends and after-hours situations
  • Up to 10% travel for training, certifications, and site coverage
  • Frequent stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, and handling; capable of lifting 50 lbs. or more
  • Occasional climbing and working at heights or in difficult-to-access locations
  • Constant visual acuity at close and distance ranges, fine finger dexterity, hearing, and depth perception
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
