Job Description
SOLV Energy is seeking a Solar Field Service Technician (Level 1) for full-time fieldwork at a utility-scale solar facility in Coyanosa, TX. This role focuses on learning safe solar maintenance practices while performing hands-on technical work under supervision.
About the Role
You will work on-site at a utility-scale solar plant, supporting the maintenance and operation of solar equipment and battery storage systems. This is an entry-level position designed to build your technical foundation in solar field service while working alongside experienced technicians and EPC management.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize safety in all work activities and adhere to safe work practices in the solar industry
- Operate, maintain, and care for company equipment, tools, and solar facility property
- Perform basic solar equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks under supervision
- Replace or repair solar equipment and components as assigned and supervised
- Execute Lock Out/Tag Out procedures on energized systems and equipment
- Respond to on-call requests for emergency equipment repairs, including weekends and after-hours
- Utilize monitoring programs to support diagnostic and maintenance work
- Document work performed and prepare required reports and records
- Identify process improvements and collaborate with EPC management on new technologies
- Participate in staff development and training initiatives
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (vocational/technical training preferred)
- Demonstrated mechanical or electrical work experience, either through formal training or prior work
- Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Basic knowledge of solar installations and plants
- Ability to identify and perform Lock Out/Tag Out of energized systems
- Familiarity with basic testing equipment
- Obtain NFPA 70E Safety Training certification
- Remain current in all safety and technical training requirements
- Basic computer operation skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Fluent English language communication (verbal and written)
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
- Ability to operate company vehicles
- Up to 10% travel for training, certifications, and site coverage
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
- Ability to work on an on-call basis
- Physical capability to stoop, bend, crouch, reach, handle objects with finger dexterity, sit, stand, walk, and lift 50+ lbs. frequently
- Occasional climbing and carrying in high, exposed, or difficult-to-access locations
- Constant ability to see details at close range and distance, hear, talk, and maintain depth perception
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
