Job Description

SOLV Energy seeks a Solar Field Service Technician (Level 1) for full-time, on-site work at a utility-scale solar facility near McCamey, TX. This entry-level position involves learning and performing field maintenance on solar equipment under supervision while adhering strictly to industry safety protocols.

About the Role

You will work on utility-scale solar and battery storage projects, supporting operations and maintenance activities across multiple solar plants. This is a hands-on position based full-time at the jobsite, with occasional on-call responsibilities for emergency equipment repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety at all times; work only under safe conditions and seek guidance on unfamiliar tasks
  • Operate, maintain, and care for company equipment, tools, and property
  • Perform basic solar equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance under supervision
  • Replace or repair solar parts and equipment under supervision using monitoring programs
  • Respond on-call as directed by supervisor for emergency equipment repairs
  • Properly perform Lock Out/Tag Out procedures on energized systems and equipment
  • Document work performed and prepare required field reports accurately
  • Suggest process improvements and collaborate on new technologies with EPC management
  • Complete additional assignments as directed

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent (vocational/technical training a plus)
  • Demonstrated experience or formal training in mechanical and electrical environments
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Basic knowledge of solar installations and power plants
  • Familiarity with basic testing equipment
  • Basic computer operation skills
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions
  • NFPA 70E Safety Training certification required; must maintain current safety and technical certifications
  • Effective verbal and written English communication
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicles
  • Willingness to work in remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
  • Availability to work on-call basis, including weekends and after-hours
  • Ability to travel up to 10% for training, certifications, and site coverage
  • Frequent stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, and handling; ability to lift 50 lbs. or more regularly
  • Occasional climbing and working in high, exposed, or difficult-to-access locations
  • Constant finger dexterity; ability to see details at close and distant range; adequate hearing and depth perception
  • Exposure to outdoor weather, dust, fumes, vibration, electric shock, radiation, toxic/caustic chemicals, moving mechanical parts, and high noise levels
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
