Job Description
SOLV Energy seeks a Solar Field Service Technician Level 2 for full-time, on-site work at a utility-scale solar facility in Victoria, TX. This role involves field maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of solar and battery storage systems with greater technical depth and supervisory responsibilities.
About the Role
The Solar Field Service Technician Level 2 will perform independent maintenance and troubleshooting on solar facilities, manage PV system diagnostics, and provide oversight to Level 1 technicians. This is a full-time position based at the Victoria jobsite, with on-call availability required.
Responsibilities
- Perform solar equipment testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair with minimal to no supervision
- Test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems on solar equipment and systems independently
- Use system monitoring applications (Locus, QOS, Vitals, RTDB, or similar platforms) to diagnose issues and determine responses
- Perform preventive maintenance and diagnostic work using monitoring applications
- Operate service equipment safely and maintain all required records
- Provide on-call service coverage at assigned solar facilities
- Supervise and train Solar Technician Level 1 employees
- Accurately track time, materials, and work completion in the Sprocket system
- Create and maintain detailed work tickets from initiation through completion
- Complete equipment PM inspections and identify corrective actions via Sprocket
- Prepare accurate documentation and reports of all work performed
- Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and communicate work procedures
- Assess and recommend process improvements; collaborate on new technologies with EPC management
- Assess safety concerns and issue Stop Work orders when necessary
- Complete additional assigned responsibilities as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (vocational/technical training preferred)
- Valid OSHA 30 certification
- Valid NFPA 70E safety training certification
- Demonstrated ability to recognize work hazards and mitigate using proper tools and procedures
- Ability to identify energized and de-energized electrical parts and all incoming power sources
- Demonstrated understanding of safe electrical and mechanical practices
- Knowledge of basic electrical testing and troubleshooting equipment
- Ability to perform Lock Out/Tag Out procedures safely and effectively
- Proficiency with system monitoring applications and basic computer operation
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work in remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
- Availability for on-call work, including weekends and after-hours
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicles
- Ability to travel up to 10% for training, certifications, and site coverage
- Capacity to work collaboratively with other technicians to complete tasks
- Current in all safety and technical trainings

Pay Range: $27.18 – $33.97 per hour
