Job Description

SOLV Energy seeks a Solar Field Service Technician (Level 1) to perform field maintenance and equipment service work at a utility-scale solar facility in Haskell, TX. This full-time on-site role emphasizes safe work practices and hands-on learning within the solar operations environment.

About the Role

You will work under supervision to maintain and troubleshoot solar equipment at utility-scale plants, gaining practical experience in field service operations. Safety is the primary focus of this position, with responsibilities spanning equipment care, basic diagnostics, parts replacement, and emergency response coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safe work practices and ensure all personnel follow established safety protocols
  • Operate and maintain company equipment, tools, and property
  • Service solar equipment at multiple plants under direct supervision
  • Perform basic solar equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks using monitoring programs
  • Replace or repair solar components and equipment under supervision
  • Respond on-call to emergency equipment repairs as directed
  • Document work performed and complete required field reports
  • Identify process improvements and coordinate implementation with EPC management
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; vocational/technical training preferred
  • Formal training or previous work experience in a mechanical or electrical environment
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to identify and perform Lock Out/Tag Out procedures on energized equipment
  • Basic knowledge of solar installation and plant operations
  • Basic testing equipment knowledge
  • NFPA 70E Safety Training certification (required; must obtain if not already held)
  • Current knowledge of all safety and technical training requirements
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicles
  • Basic computer operation skills
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in remote locations in extreme weather (heat, cold, inclement conditions)
  • Ability to work on an on-call basis, including weekends and after-hours situations
  • Frequent stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, and handling; ability to lift 50 lbs. or more
  • Occasional climbing and carrying; comfort working at heights or in difficult-to-access locations
  • Tolerance for outdoor environments including dust, fumes, vibration, and high noise levels
  • Close-range and distance vision; depth perception; hearing and talking ability
  • Finger dexterity for detailed work

Compensation: $22.00 – $31.00 per hour
