Job Description

SOLV Energy seeks a Solar Field Service Technician (Level 1) for a full-time position at a utility-scale solar facility in New Carlisle, IN. This role involves field maintenance, equipment service, and technical support under supervision while building expertise in solar industry safety and operations.

About the Role

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on solar equipment across multiple plants, working as part of a field service team on-site. Safety is the foundational responsibility; you will follow safe work practices, seek guidance on unfamiliar tasks, and support emergency equipment repairs as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Service solar equipment at utility-scale solar plants under direct supervision
  • Perform basic solar equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks using monitoring programs
  • Replace or repair solar parts and equipment under supervision
  • Operate and maintain company property, equipment, and tooling
  • Respond on-call to assist with emergency equipment repairs as directed
  • Complete accurate documentation and required work reports
  • Identify and recommend process improvements; collaborate with EPC management on new technologies
  • Adhere to all safety and quality procedures on the jobsite

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent (vocational/technical training a plus)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a mechanical/electrical environment through formal training or prior work experience
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to identify and perform effective Lock Out/Tag Out of energized parts and systems
  • Basic understanding of solar plant installation and operation
  • Basic knowledge of testing equipment
  • NFPA 70e Safety Training certification (must obtain)
  • Ability to remain current in all safety and technical trainings
  • Basic computer operation skills
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English
  • Ability to work in remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
  • Ability to work on an on-call basis, including weekends and after-hours
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record; ability to operate company vehicles
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% for training, certifications, and site coverage
  • Frequent stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, and handling; constant finger dexterity and close-range vision
  • Occasional climbing and carrying; ability to work at heights and in exposed or difficult-to-access locations
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more regularly
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship

Compensation: $25.02 – $31.27 per hour
