Job Description

SOLV Energy seeks a Solar Field Service Technician (Level 1) for full-time, on-site work at a utility-scale solar facility in McCamey, TX. This entry-level position focuses on field maintenance, equipment servicing, and safe work practices under supervision.

About the Role

You will support the maintenance and operation of utility-scale solar and battery storage equipment at an active project site. This is a hands-on position requiring attention to safety protocols, basic troubleshooting, and collaborative work with the project team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field maintenance and basic testing, troubleshooting, and repair of solar equipment under direct supervision
  • Replace or repair solar parts and components as assigned
  • Operate and maintain company tools, equipment, and property
  • Service multiple solar plants and systems using monitoring programs and established procedures
  • Respond to on-call emergency equipment repair requests as directed by supervisor
  • Document work performed and prepare required field reports accurately
  • Implement proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures on energized equipment and systems
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and coordinate with EPC management on implementation
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; vocational or technical training preferred
  • Demonstrated experience or formal training in mechanical and electrical environments
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Basic understanding of solar plant operations and equipment
  • Ability to identify and perform Lock Out/Tag Out procedures safely
  • Basic knowledge of testing equipment and instruments
  • NFPA 70E Safety Training certification (must obtain)
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicles
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Basic computer operation skills
  • Effective verbal and written English communication
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work in remote locations and extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
  • Ability to work on an on-call basis, including weekends and after-hours situations
  • Physical capability to frequently bend, stoop, crouch, reach, handle objects, stand, walk, and lift 50 lbs. or more
  • Ability to climb and work in high, exposed, or difficult-to-access locations
  • Ability to maintain constant finger dexterity and detail vision at close and distant ranges
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts and in high-noise environments
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor harsh conditions, dust, fumes, vibration, electric shock, radiation, and toxic or caustic chemicals

Compensation: $25.02 – $31.27 per hour (hourly)
