Job Description

SOLV Energy seeks a Solar Field Service Technician (Level 1) to perform maintenance and support operations on utility-scale solar and battery storage installations. This full-time position is located in the Farmington, NM area, with specifics to be discussed during the interview process. SOLV Energy builds and maintains power infrastructure projects nationwide and values diversity and inclusion in its operations.

About the Role

You will work under supervision on active solar plant sites, learning and applying safe work practices while performing field maintenance, equipment testing, troubleshooting, and repairs. You may also respond on-call to assist with emergency equipment repairs and will document work performed through required reporting and monitoring programs.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety for yourself and all team members; follow safe work practices and seek guidance on unfamiliar tasks
  • Operate, maintain, and care for company equipment, tools, and property
  • Service solar equipment at multiple solar plants under direct supervision
  • Perform basic solar equipment testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks using monitoring programs
  • Replace or repair solar parts and equipment under supervision
  • Respond on-call as directed by supervisors to assist in emergency repairs, including potential weekends or after-hours
  • Complete accurate documentation and required reports of all work performed
  • Assess work processes and collaborate with EPC management on process improvements and new technologies
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or equivalent; vocational/technical training preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working in a mechanical or electrical environment through formal training or previous work experience
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to identify and perform Lock Out/Tag Out procedures on energized parts and systems
  • Basic knowledge of solar installations and plants
  • Basic knowledge of testing equipment and operation
  • NFPA 70e Safety Training certification (must obtain and maintain current)
  • Basic computer operation skills
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record; ability to operate company vehicles
  • Ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
  • Ability to work on an on-call basis, including weekends and after-hours
  • Up to 10% travel for training, certifications, and site coverage
  • Frequent stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, handling, and lifting 50 lbs. or more
  • Constant finger dexterity; ability to see details at close and distant range; hearing and depth perception required
  • Occasional climbing and carrying; ability to work in high, exposed, or difficult-to-access places
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship

Compensation: $25.02–$31.27 per hour
