Solar Field Service Technician - Level 2 (Boise, ID)

SOLV Energy, a utility-scale solar and energy storage infrastructure provider, is hiring a Solar Field Service Technician – Level 2 for full-time work at a jobsite in Boise, ID. You will perform field maintenance, diagnostics, and repair on utility-scale solar equipment and systems with minimal supervision, supervise Level 1 technicians, and respond to on-call service needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform solar equipment testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on utility-scale systems with minimal or no supervision
• Perform testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems on solar equipment and systems with minimal or no supervision
• Conduct diagnostics using system monitoring applications (e.g., Locus, QOS, Vitals, RTDB) to identify issues and determine corrective actions
• Perform preventive maintenance and diagnostic work using system monitoring applications
• Operate service equipment safely and maintain required records
• Supervise and provide ongoing training for Solar Technician Level I employees
• Create and complete work tickets in the Sprocket system, documenting work performed, time, materials, and labor
• Complete equipment preventive maintenance (PM) inspections and identify corrective actions using the Sprocket system
• Prepare accurate documentation and reports of all work performed
• Provide on-call service at assigned solar facilities
• Account for time and material costs expended in job responsibilities
• Identify and communicate safety hazards; issue Stop Work orders when safety concerns are raised
• Assess processes and collaborate with EPC management on operational improvements and new technologies

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (vocational/technical training preferred)
• Valid OSHA 30 certification
• Valid NFPA 70E safety training certification
• Demonstrated ability to identify energized and de-energized electrical parts and safely de-energize sources before work
• Demonstrated knowledge of safe electrical and mechanical practices
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic electrical testing and troubleshooting equipment
• Ability to identify and perform effective Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures on energized parts and systems
• Basic computer operation skills and ability to operate system monitoring applications
• Ability to recognize work hazards and mitigate using proper tools and procedures
• Ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
• Ability to work on an on-call basis, including weekends and after-hours situations
• Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicles
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Current status in all required safety and technical trainings
