Solar Installer

IGS Energy seeks a Solar Installer for residential solar energy system installation and maintenance in Columbus, OH. You will install photovoltaic panels, inverters, and associated equipment on rooftops and ground-mounted systems, troubleshoot electrical and performance issues, assess installation sites, and maintain detailed project documentation. This position requires technical electrical knowledge, the ability to work safely at heights and in variable weather, and collaboration with lead installers, electricians, and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Install solar panels, inverters, and related equipment on residential rooftops and ground-mounted systems per manufacturer specifications and local electrical code
• Conduct site assessments to evaluate structural integrity, shading conditions, and obstacles; recommend optimal PV panel placement
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on solar systems to maintain performance and system longevity
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults and performance issues in solar installations
• Record installation, maintenance, and system performance data accurately
• Coordinate with lead installers, electricians, and project managers to meet project timelines and quality standards
• Explain system operations and address customer questions regarding installed equipment

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous hands-on experience in solar installation or related electrical field work (preferred)
• Knowledge of photovoltaic (PV) technology, inverters, and battery storage systems
• Proficiency in electrical wiring, connections, and DC/AC circuit safety practices specific to solar
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and materials regularly
• Ability to work safely at heights, on roofs, and in variable weather conditions
• Familiarity with solar installation safety protocols, OSHA standards, and applicable electrical codes
• Current authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis; sponsorship not available
