Job Description
SOLV Energy seeks a Solar Field Service Technician, Level 2 for full-time deployment at a utility-scale solar facility in Tulia, TX. In this role, you will perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of solar equipment and electrical systems with minimal supervision, operate monitoring platforms to diagnose issues, and supervise Level I technicians. Safety is the core priority across all field operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform solar equipment testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on utility-scale PV systems with minimal or no supervision
- Conduct electrical system testing, troubleshooting, and repair on solar equipment and systems with minimal or no supervision
- Use system monitoring applications (e.g., Locus, QOS, Vitals, RTDB) to diagnose issues and determine corrective responses
- Perform preventive maintenance and diagnostic work utilizing monitoring platforms
- Operate service equipment safely and maintain required records for all equipment and systems
- Provide on-call service at assigned solar facilities
- Track and accurately document time, material costs, and work performed through the Sprocket system
- Complete equipment PM inspections and identify corrective actions using the Sprocket system
- Prepare accurate documentation and work reports for all tasks performed
- Supervise and provide ongoing training for Solar Technician Level I employees
- Ensure all employees follow safe work practices and safety regulations
- Assess and recommend process improvements; collaborate on new technologies and coordinate implementation with EPC management
- Execute all responsibilities of Solar Technician Level I position
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Valid OSHA 30 certification
- Valid NFPA 70E Safety Training certification
- Demonstrated ability to recognize work hazards and apply proper mitigation procedures and tools
- Demonstrated ability to identify energized and de-energized electrical parts and incoming power sources; safe de-energization capability
- Demonstrated understanding of safe electrical and mechanical practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic electrical testing and troubleshooting equipment
- Demonstrated ability to identify and perform effective Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures on energized parts and systems
- Basic computer operation and ability to operate system monitoring applications
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record; ability to operate company vehicle
- Ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
- Ability to work on an on-call basis, including weekends and after-hours situations
- Ability to assess safety issues and issue Stop Work orders when concerns are raised
- Current status in all required safety and technical trainings
- Vocational or technical school training is a plus
