Job Description
SOLV Energy seeks a Solar Field Service Technician Level 2 for full-time, on-site work at a utility-scale solar facility in Tulia, TX. In this role, you will perform field maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of PV systems and electrical equipment with minimal supervision, operate diagnostic monitoring platforms, and mentor Level 1 technicians. The position includes on-call service availability and requires work in remote locations under variable weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of solar equipment and PV systems with minimal or no supervision
- Perform testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems on solar equipment and systems with minimal or no supervision
- Use system monitoring applications (e.g., Locus, QOS, Vitals, RTDB) to identify issues and determine corrective actions
- Conduct preventive maintenance and diagnostic work using monitoring applications
- Operate and maintain service equipment safely, keeping required records of equipment and systems
- Provide on-call service at assigned solar facilities
- Supervise and train Solar Technician Level 1 employees
- Document and report all work performed, track time and materials, and create complete service tickets in the Sprocket system
- Complete PM inspections using the Sprocket system and identify corrective actions
- Assess work hazards, follow and communicate safety regulations and procedures, and issue Stop Work orders when concerns arise
- Suggest process improvements and coordinate implementation with EPC management
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; vocational/technical school training preferred
- Valid OSHA 30 certification
- Valid NFPA 70E safety training certification
- Demonstrated ability to recognize work hazards and mitigate using proper tools and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to identify energized and de-energized electrical parts, identify incoming power sources, and safely de-energize sources before beginning work
- Demonstrated understanding of safe electrical and mechanical practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic electrical testing and troubleshooting equipment
- Demonstrated ability to identify and perform effective lockout/tagout of energized parts and systems
- Basic computer operation skills and ability to operate system monitoring applications
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicle
- Ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)
- Ability to work on an on-call basis, including weekends and after-hours situations
- Remain current in all safety and technical trainings
