Lead Solar Field Service Technician III

This Lead Solar Field Service Technician III role at Pearce Services is based in Houston, Texas, and focuses on utility-scale solar farms. The position involves leading a field crew on ground-mount PV systems and requires 100% travel to active solar sites across North America. Pearce provides maintenance and repair services for renewable energy infrastructure including battery energy storage systems.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair utility-scale solar systems including inverters, combiner boxes, and string circuits
• Perform testing such as LOTO, IV curve tracing, megger/insulation testing, and IR scans
• Lead and direct field technicians on active solar farm sites
• Assign work, track progress, and maintain job schedules
• Conduct operations and maintenance on utility-scale solar plants
• Inspect completed work for compliance with quality and safety standards
• Enforce OSHA and NFPA 70E safety requirements on-site
• Diagnose system issues and complete field repairs
• Complete work orders, service logs, and required documentation
• Operate and maintain company vehicle and tools
• Train and support junior technicians in the field

Requirements

• 3+ years of utility-scale solar experience on solar farms or ground-mount systems
• Experience leading crews or serving as lead technician on-site
• Experience working on megawatt-scale PV systems
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and repair skills on inverters, DC systems, and power electronics
• Experience with solar O&M and maintenance work
• Working knowledge of OSHA and NFPA 70E safety standards
• Experience using multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, and testing equipment
• Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs
• Capacity to work outdoors in all weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, and dust
