Solar Electrician / Technician

Origis Energy Services seeks a Solar Electrician / Technician to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of utility-scale solar PV and energy storage systems in Columbus, Mississippi. This safety-sensitive position requires independent work on AC and DC electrical systems while adhering to established protocols and contributing to site operational efficiency.

About the Role

The Solar PV & BESS O&M Technician maintains and optimizes utility-scale solar and battery energy storage installations through preventative maintenance, corrective repairs, and system monitoring. Work includes inspection of PV modules, inverters, transformers, switchgear, and high-voltage components, as well as SCADA monitoring and coordination with remote operators to resolve site issues.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs on AC and DC systems, including inverters, PV modules, transformers, switchgear, and high-voltage components
• Monitor plant operations through SCADA and support commissioning, testing, and system modifications
• Follow strict safety protocols including Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures
• Troubleshoot electrical systems and DC/AC wiring
• Coordinate with remote operators to identify and resolve site issues
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS software
• Execute installation tasks requiring torquing, calibration, and specialized tool use
• Provide technical guidance to other technicians as appropriate to experience level
• Lead advanced troubleshooting across multiple OEM platforms and control interfaces
• Develop and implement LOTO procedures and electrical work plans
• Read, interpret, and create electrical schematics, work procedures, and safety protocols
• Serve as primary customer interface for communicating site conditions and technical findings to internal and external stakeholders
• Verify tooling and parts against work plans and generate findings reports
• Train and mentor junior technicians on safety standards and industry practices
• Develop and execute maintenance schedules and work plans

Requirements

• Valid driver's license
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in large-scale solar operations and maintenance (experience requirements vary by position level)
• Competency in industrial or utility power operations, troubleshooting, and general maintenance procedures
• Ability to read electrical schematics and operate SCADA systems
• Proficiency with CMMS maintenance tracking software
• Strong computer skills in SCADA and CMMS applications
• Electrical certifications or industry training preferred
• 4+ years of direct or related solar industry experience for advanced positions
• Advanced knowledge of LOTO procedures and electrical work planning for advanced positions
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain multiple OEM systems for advanced positions
• Capacity to create complex schematics and work instructions for advanced positions
• Strong experience with industrial control interfaces for advanced positions
• Advanced organizational and multitasking skills for advanced positions
• Stand, walk (including 2+ miles per day), climb, bend, and kneel for extended periods in varying weather conditions
• Lift and carry tools and equipment weighing up to 80 pounds
• Maintain clear visual acuity (with or without corrective lenses) for reading schematics and using tools and meters
• Handle precise tasks requiring fine motor skills and strong hand-eye coordination
• Work outside normal business hours and maintain on-call rotation as needed
• Comply with drug-free and alcohol-free workplace policies

Benefits

• Hourly rate: $25–$45/hour based on experience level (Solar Technician 2 through Solar Technician 4)
• Regional travel may occasionally be required to support site operations across Texas, Tennessee, New Mexico, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Illinois, and Missouri
