Solar Electrician / Technician

Origis Energy Services seeks a Solar Electrician/Technician for operations and maintenance work at utility-scale solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage systems in Palatka, Florida. This is a safety-sensitive position involving independent troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of AC/DC electrical components, inverters, PV modules, transformers, and switchgear at operating solar facilities across the Southeast and beyond.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs on AC and DC systems including inverters, PV modules, transformers, switchgear, and high-voltage components
• Monitor plant operations through SCADA systems and contribute to commissioning, testing, and system modifications
• Execute Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures and follow strict Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) safety protocols
• Troubleshoot electrical systems and coordinate with remote operators to resolve site issues
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS software
• Perform installation tasks with proficiency in torquing, calibration, and use of specialized tools
• Provide guidance to junior technicians as appropriate to experience level
• Lead advanced troubleshooting across multiple OEM platforms, including controls interface and system diagnostics (for advanced positions)
• Develop and implement LOTO procedures and electrical work plans (for advanced positions)
• Interpret and develop complex work procedures, schematics, and safety protocols (for advanced positions)
• Serve as primary customer interface, communicating site conditions and technical findings to internal and external stakeholders (for advanced positions)
• Train and mentor junior technicians in safety standards and industry-approved practices (for advanced positions)
• Develop and execute work plans and maintenance schedules (for advanced positions)

Requirements

• Valid driver's license
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in large-scale solar O&M (amount varies by position level)
• Competency in industrial or utility power operations, troubleshooting, and general maintenance procedures
• Ability to read electrical schematics
• Proficiency operating SCADA systems
• Proficiency using CMMS software for maintenance tracking
• 4+ years of direct or related solar industry experience (for advanced positions)
• Advanced knowledge of LOTO procedures and electrical work planning (for advanced positions)
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain multiple OEM systems (for advanced positions)
• Ability to create complex schematics and work instructions (for advanced positions)
• Strong experience with industrial control interfaces (for advanced positions)
• Capacity to stand, walk (including 2+ miles per day), climb, bend, and kneel for extended periods in varying weather conditions
• Capacity to lift and carry tools or equipment weighing up to 80 pounds
• Clear visual acuity (with or without corrective lenses) for reading schematics and operating tools and meters
• Fine motor skills and strong hand-eye coordination
• Availability for on-call rotation and work outside normal business hours as necessary
• Compliance with drug-free and alcohol-free workplace policies
• Electrical certifications or industry training (preferred)

Benefits

• Hourly rate: $25–$45/hour (based on position level and experience)
• Regional travel may occasionally be required; current operating sites include Texas, Tennessee, New Mexico, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Illinois, Missouri, and Indiana
