Solar Electrician / Technician

Origis Energy Services seeks a Solar Electrician / Technician for its utility-scale solar and battery energy storage operations in Gainestown, Alabama. This safety-sensitive position involves maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of PV arrays, inverters, transformers, and BESS systems. You will work independently while adhering to established protocols, contributing to site efficiency through preventative maintenance, corrective repairs, and system monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs on AC and DC systems, including inverters, PV modules, transformers, switchgear, and high-voltage components
• Monitor plant operations via SCADA systems and participate in commissioning, testing, and system modifications
• Execute Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures and follow Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) safety protocols
• Troubleshoot electrical systems and coordinate with remote operators to resolve site issues
• Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS software
• Perform installation tasks including torquing, calibration, and use of specialized tools
• Provide guidance to junior technicians as appropriate to experience level
• Lead advanced troubleshooting across multiple OEM platforms, including controls interface and system diagnostics (advanced positions)
• Develop and implement LOTO procedures and electrical work plans (advanced positions)
• Interpret and develop complex work procedures, schematics, and safety protocols (advanced positions)
• Serve as primary customer interface, communicating site conditions and technical findings to internal and external stakeholders (advanced positions)
• Verify tooling and parts against work plans and generate reports on findings and recommendations (advanced positions)
• Train and mentor junior technicians on safety standards and industry-approved practices (advanced positions)
• Develop and execute work plans and maintenance schedules (advanced positions)

Requirements

• Valid driver's license
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in large-scale solar O&M (level varies by position tier)
• Competency in industrial or utility power operations, troubleshooting, and general maintenance procedures
• Proficiency reading electrical schematics
• Ability to operate SCADA systems
• Ability to use CMMS software for maintenance tracking
• Electrical certifications or industry training (preferred)
• 4+ years of direct or related solar industry experience (advanced positions)
• Advanced knowledge of LOTO procedures and electrical work planning (advanced positions)
• Proficiency troubleshooting and maintaining multiple OEM systems (advanced positions)
• Ability to create complex schematics and work instructions (advanced positions)
• Strong experience with industrial control interfaces (advanced positions)
• Ability to stand, walk 2+ miles daily, climb, bend, and kneel for extended periods in varying weather conditions
• Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 80 pounds
• Clear visual acuity (with or without corrective lenses) for reading schematics and working with tools and meters
• Fine motor skills and strong hand-eye coordination for precise tasks
• Availability to work outside normal business hours and maintain on-call rotation schedule
• Compliance with drug-free and alcohol-free workplace policies

Benefits

• Hourly rate: $25–$45/hour (based on experience level)
• Regional travel occasionally required; sites currently operate in Texas, Tennessee, New Mexico, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Illinois, and Missouri, with Indiana coming soon
