About the Role

You will oversee maintenance, repair, and diagnostics on large utility-scale solar farms, including ground-mount systems, central and string inverters, and associated power plant equipment. As a hands-on leader, you'll manage a crew of 4+ field technicians, ensuring work is completed safely, to specification, and on schedule. This role requires direct field experience on utility-scale solar sites and the ability to train and direct junior technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair utility-scale PV systems, including inverters, combiner boxes, and string circuits
  • Perform electrical testing: LOTO procedures, IV curve tracing, megger/insulation testing, and infrared thermal scans
  • Lead and direct 2 or more field technicians on active solar farm sites
  • Assign work, track progress, and maintain project schedules
  • Conduct operations and maintenance (O&M) on utility-scale solar plants
  • Inspect completed work for quality and safety compliance
  • Enforce OSHA and NFPA 70E safety requirements on-site
  • Diagnose system issues and resolve them in the field
  • Complete work orders, service logs, and required documentation
  • Operate and maintain company vehicle and assigned tools
  • Train and support junior technicians in field procedures

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of utility-scale solar experience on solar farms and ground-mount systems
  • Demonstrated experience leading crews or serving as lead technician on-site
  • Hands-on experience with megawatt-scale PV systems (not residential rooftop installations)
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and repair skills for inverters, DC systems, and power electronics
  • Experience with solar O&M and preventive maintenance work
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and NFPA 70E safety standards
  • Proficiency with multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, and electrical testing equipment
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs
  • Willingness to travel 100% of the time to solar farm sites
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Benefits

Pearce provides a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, including medical, dental, and vision insurance; flexible spending accounts and HSA options; 401(k) with employer match; paid vacation and paid holidays; tuition reimbursement; and professional development training.
