Job Description

This role is for an Advanced Solar Field Service Technician (Operations and Maintenance) with Pearce Services in the Renewables Solar O&M Division. The position covers local solar energy sites near Bakersfield, California, with candidates required to reside within approximately 50 miles of the area. Work involves physical labor for operation and maintenance of solar power plants according to established standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance of solar utility and sub-station equipment.
  • Complete documentation such as work orders, time logs, inventory control records, and emergency information schedules.
  • Troubleshoot electrical components using digital multi-meters, meggers, amp clamps, and similar equipment.
  • Test and troubleshoot installed solar equipment to verify proper working order.
  • Apply Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) procedures.
  • Operate and maintain a motor vehicle safely and legally in accordance with company handbook and insurance requirements.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in commercial or industrial O&M on solar power plants preferred.
  • Preventative maintenance experience on solar utility equipment preferred.
  • Mechanical and electrical experience with troubleshooting and installation skills.
  • Specific experience with inverters, tracker systems, or sub-station equipment such as TMEIC, SMA, Sungrow, Nextracker, or ATI preferred.
  • Ability to train and mentor laborers into apprentices.
  • Compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Residence within approximately 50 miles of Bakersfield, California.
  • Ability to work outdoors in ambient temperatures.
  • Capability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Availability for weekends, holidays, and on-call service via telephone or text message.
  • Travel up to 25% as needed.
