Solar Installer

Sunrun is seeking a Solar Installer to join its team in Schaumburg, Illinois. This position involves hands-on installation of residential solar PV systems, working both independently and as part of a crew on rooftop and ground-mount projects.

About the Role

As a Solar Installer, you will be responsible for the physical installation of solar photovoltaic systems at residential properties throughout the Schaumburg area. You will work on rooftops and at ground level, handling module placement, racking systems, and electrical connections under the supervision of lead installers or independently depending on experience level.

Responsibilities

• Install solar modules and racking systems on residential rooftops and ground mounts
• Perform DC and AC electrical wiring connections for solar arrays
• Follow blueprints and installation manuals to ensure proper system configuration
• Conduct pre-installation site assessments and prepare surfaces for mounting
• Test electrical systems and verify proper grounding and safety protocols
• Communicate with crew members and supervising installers regarding project progress and site conditions
• Clean up work sites and properly dispose of materials and packaging
• Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations and company safety procedures

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• OSHA-10 certification or willingness to obtain
• Physical ability to work at heights, lift up to 50 pounds regularly, and perform repetitive climbing and bending
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
